This is a real cut from our Premium Oiled oak Acupanel with grey felt, 30cm by 12cm, not a printed swatch. The Premium Oiled finish is a natural wood veneer hand-finished with a danish satin oil that draws out the depth and warmth of the grain. Because the veneer is natural, tone and figure vary subtly between panels, which is what gives a finished wall its character. Slats are mounted on a grey acoustic felt backing that helps soften echo in a room, and reads lighter between the slats than the black felt version.

Standard or Premium Oiled?

This is the difference worth understanding before you order.

Standard uses an engineered wood veneer. Grain and colour are consistent panel to panel, so a large wall reads as one surface.

Premium Oiled uses a natural wood veneer finished with a danish satin oil. It has more depth and variation, and no two panels are quite identical.

Neither is better. It depends on whether you want uniformity or natural character. Many people order both samples and decide in the room.

How big is the sample?

Each Acupanel sample measures 30cm long by 12cm wide, cut from a real panel.

That is large enough to judge colour, grain and the slat profile in your own light, and to hold up against flooring, joinery or paint before you decide.

Why does the grain vary?

Because it is real wood, not a print. Every panel still reads unmistakably as oak. The variation is in the grain pattern and the depth of tone from board to board, the same way a solid timber floor or a good piece of furniture varies.

That is what makes a finished wall look genuinely made rather than manufactured, and it is the one thing a printed or engineered surface cannot reproduce. If you would rather every panel matched exactly, the Standard finish is built for that.

What does the grey felt change?

The felt is what you see in the gaps between the slats. Grey reads lighter and softer than the black felt version, which makes the wall feel less heavy in a smaller or darker room. The wood finish itself is identical.

Can I order more than one sample?

Yes. Most people order two or three to compare finishes side by side in their own light, which is the only way to judge a wood finish properly. Every sample ships free.

Are samples refundable?

Samples are non-returnable. At $4.99 with free shipping they are priced to be a low-risk way to check the finish before committing to a full order.
