Hi, my name is Russell. I completed my veterinary degree in 1997 at Murdoch University in Western Australia. My first job was in the dairy district of South Western Victoria, where I gained experience with large and small animals, but especially found dairy cattle medicine challenging and rewarding. The lure of overseas travel then took me to the UK for 3 years where I worked in small animal practice all around England, but mainly in Essex. I enjoyed my time over there, where I met a lot of interesting people and pets; the English sure do love their pets! As I said, my time in the UK was mainly spent with dogs, cat and rabbits; but I also spent 6 months working on the Foot and Mouth outbreak in sheep and cattle.
I then returned to Australia and worked in Hobart for 2 years. It was during this time I completed a Sydney Post Graduate Foundation course in Ophthalmology, so I enjoy eye cases as a special interest. After Hobart I moved to Brisbane to enjoy some sunshine for a couple of years, working as a locum. Finally, 2007 has brought my wife and I to Melbourne, where we’ll hopefully be for the foreseeable future (we’ve moved around enough!).
I look forward to seeing you and your pets here at Williamstown Vets some time soon.
